My Web Dev Roadmap

A brief overview of my web dev exploration

I always found programming alluring during my time as an Engineering student. It was love at first sight when my first lines of code controlled a robot autonomously to function as desired (at least mostly anyways). Hooked by this new found passion, I started exploring other ways to create beautiful code, and found myself learning about Web development, the intersection of aesthetically written yet functional code, and I haven't looked back since.

Portfolio Timeline

V1

My first project ended up being this Wix site. Which looking back now has little to no respect for design guidelines or include any signs of UI/UX. But hey, it looked sick at the time and I was proud of it! This was also my first introduction to Web development with the help of a no-code

V2

Fast forward to graduation, with some more experience under my belt, I wanted to create a portfolio to showcase myself, as well as my crafts to potential employers. So I created this this Next.Js site based off of what I referenced from other portfolio sites. I also wanted to try out writing at the time, so I inherited (haha get it?) the dynamically slugged projects page in order to create an amazing outlet for me to talk about the exciting, non-technical stuff happening in my life that isn't short form media posted on Instagram. Wanting this portfolio to be a fun show of personality, I went big and bold on graphics, and left the chunky writing to the dedicated articles. Little did I know, this would end up being a discussion point towards my first post-graduation position as a professional Software Developer.

V3

2 years after, I decided to revisit the concept of a portfolio project, as I do all subjects of interest from time to time, and draft this single page brief overview site using the experience I gathered as a Software Engineer. However the design didn't quite sit right in accordance with my vision, so it was quickly scrapped in order to create this portfolio, which was structured with a Hero section, as well as the latest articles from each segment on the main page, and now includes a page dedicated to my skills and expertise.

A gentle reminder

This post will forever serve as a reminder of the journey it took me to get here, as well as motivation for the adventures ahead, to creating sexier, and better written apps.
